what we've done

Wellington Waterfront Motorhome Park

wwmp

The Wellington Waterfront Limited needed to quickly fine a way to easily and securely book visitors into their soon to be downtown Waterfront Motorhome Park. They had thought through various options but then decided to talk to allfields.

our approach

Original schemes looked at by the Wellington Waterfront team included incorporating swipe card access and parking meter machines were also considered, but none could provide the same cost and time effective solution that could also offer comprehensive delivery of arrival registration, secure credit card transactions and links to online bookings all in one.

The team at allfields quickly established a more scalable direction and presented our own model which met approval and buy-in from the client. The team at allfields then took on an agile approach. Wireframes and business processes were quickly mocked up in Visio. Then designs once signed off were taken to Photoshop. In the build, we then used FLASH, mySQL, PHP, jQuery as our technology framework.

Our team designed, built and deployed a total booking solution in less than 4 months [with Xmas in there too!]. The solution involved a public website with eCommerce, an onsite touch screen kiosk [also with eCommerce]; and  an online manager portal to check registrations and carry out reporting. Concerns about synchronizing data, security, and e-commerce made the touchscreen kiosk the obvious option. The system can also be monitored remotely by Wellington Waterfront Limited. The solution has now been further extended by our team to include agents.

the result

A complex solution conceived, built  and deployed by us in a short timeframe – a mammoth undertaking and one we are very proud to have undertaken. The kiosk utilises cutting edge technology and has been built by us to enable the customer to check in and experience things quite seamlessly. Designed to link online bookings with check-in functions and also to enable real-time secure credit card transactions, the motorhome park kiosk is truly an all-in-one solution.

With the service already dispensing tickets for check in and use of the facilities at the motorhome park such as toilets and showers, the potential for adding further technology based services to the kiosk, as well as providing more information about Wellington City or events like the RWC 2011 will add value to the customer experience and is already taking place.

The RWC 2011 experienced near full bookings of the facility throughout the tournament months of September and October. At times the park was overflowing!
